Accessing Ebooks

This guide provides information about and links to sources of e-books, audiobooks, and online magazines, both free and purchased. 

Follett E-Books via the Library Catalog

1. Access the Library Catalog https://pxlib.ycissh.com (Also accessible from the YCIS Index)
2. Log in using your YCIS username and password (Login button is in the upper right corner of the screen.)
3. Click on the Catalog tab
4. Click on Follett Shelf in the left menu
5. You are now in the Follett E-Book interface and can choose from available titles. Any title with a green flag indicates that an unlimited number of people can read that book at the same time. There is no need to “borrow” the book. Titles with no green flag are single user only.
6. If you Check Out (borrow) a single user only book, you will have access to it for 14 days. At the end of the 14 days, your access will end. If you need to continue using the book, you will need to borrow it a second time.

Sora Ebooks and Audio Books

Ebooks and audio books are available through the Sora app or website. Students can borrow up to 3 books at one time for 14 days. They can place a hold on books that are not currently available so that they will be notified when it becomes available.

The Sora collection contains picture books, children's books, young adult novels, fiction and non-fiction, books for teachers, and books for parents. Languages include English, Chinese, and Spanish.

Sora ebooks and audio books can also be accessed through the library catalog. Search for the title you want. Click on OPEN.

This will take you to the Sora web interface. Log in with your YCIS ID number and the Sora password.
